Academy Program Overview

Colorado Academy offers the Academy Program at the U-9 & U-10 ages. The Academy Program is a two year program designed for the player who desires a higher level of training and play. Players, regardless of their ability level, who are committed to becoming a better soccer player are a perfect fit for this program. The goal of Colorado United is to create a fun and passionate environment to help each player along their soccer playing experience. The program offers a more challenging and structured environment to develop a better understanding of the game and improve each players fundamental technical skills. This is NOT a competitive or advanced league, but is a more progressive division that requires more of the players while focusing on their skills in a fun and enthusiastic environment.

***All U-9/U-10 Academy players will have the opportunity to practice, play games and socialize with each other at the same location under the professional guidance of the LSC staff.

U9 Academy Program Description

U-9 Academy Program: The goal of the program is to enhance the development of all players in order to give each individual their best possible soccer experience. Dribbling, passing, receiving, shooting, and shielding are the most important topics at this age and are the topics that make up the program. Each player will see their individual technique and skill improve during the first year of the Academy. To effectively create this environment players practice twice a week, typically on Tuesday and Thursday for about an hour. Boys and Girls practice and play separately, allowing for greater social interaction within each gender.

U-10 Academy Program Description

U-10 Academy Program: The focus of the program at the U-10 level shifts to "team related development" from the individual development at U-9. During the 2nd year of the Academy Program, the players develop the ability to understand and implement more complex tactical concepts and thoughts. Players practice two or three times a week depending on which state league they play in (see state league options below).

Practices are held on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays. Each team will receive a minimum of 8 training sessions conducted by a professional staff trainer. At the U-10 age group, Colorado United Soccer Club teams compete against teams from other clubs for the first time.
